Metal Jewelry I
Learn the basics of metalsmithing as you work on a series of projects in this 5-week class. Learn how to cut, texture, form, solder and and finish sterling, copper or mixed metal jewelry. Techniques include hand fabrication, hammer and roll printed textures, cold connections and more. Includes basic studio set-up and safety information.
Our small classes allow students to receive plenty of personal attention as they work on their projects.
Classes are held in a beautiful new metalsmithing studio in a vintage barn on the peaceful grounds of the Sandy Spring Museum in Montgomery County, MD.
Class runs for five weeks on Saturdays.
The next fall session starts on November 17th; we skip the Saturday after Thanksgiving. (We meet from 10:00-3:00 on five Saturdays)
The first winter session begins January 12th, and runs for 5 weeks (we skip February 2nd).
A supply fee of $35 covers all the materials and tools required for class (Optional precious metal and precious gemstones will be available for purchase).
This is a beginner to intermediate class; no prior experience is required.
